Biography of Macoy Pizzute
I first starting riding bicycles as a child with my dad on the Erie Towpath Trail. As a teenager I started commuting on bicycle to get to and from classes at The University of Akron. While at the University of Akron some very impactful things happened to me, I got my first real road bike, a Masi, and I was discovering that there was a small community of cyclists around campus. This and my favorite movie Breaking Away inspired me to form the University of Akron Cycling Club. The club quickly gained over thirty members and was recognized by USA Cycling. The Club has helped bring a bike share program to the university, implement bike lanes on Exchange St., and educated both facility and students on bicycle road safety.

My racing Career started when I had the opportunity to intern at the Cleveland Velodrome in the summer of 2017. With never having any track cycling experience I hoped on the saddle, pedaled like hell and very quickly fell in love with the sport. I soon started to podium on races and grew stronger with every race. In 2017 I was incredibly honored to represent the University of Akron at the USA Cycling Collegiate Track Championships which happened to be the very first time that the University of Akron competed in a cycling event.
